All Ashtanga and Mysore classes are taught by Sarah Durney.  There will not be any Mysore Ashtanga on Full and New Moon Days:  Monday March 15 there will be one class at 7:15 - the 5:30 pm class will be canceled.  Also, over spring break the studio will be closed on March 30.  For more information about resting on new and full moons, visit Tim Miller's website at www.ashtangayogacenter.com.

Ashtanga Yoga:

Mysore:  Level 2-4.  Beginner's class is a requisite or an understanding of ashtanga yoga.  Yoga practice with individualized attention.  This is a one-on-one learning experience.  Ideal for those seeking individualized and personal attention.  You do not need to have any of the series memorized in order to take this class.  Please come to this class between 5 and 5:30 Tu and Thursday evenings.  See 'Theory' for a more detailed description.

Beginner's Led.  Level 1.  This led Ashtanga class moves at a slow pace.  The emphasis is on rooting ourselves with our bodies, finding our breath, and exploring postures.  Our goal here is to learn the Ashtanga practice slowly and with integrity.  Students will learn the standing postures, breathing techniques, and some philosophy and history of Ashtanga.

Led Ashtanga:  Level 2-4.  This is a led class working the first half or the second half of the primary series of Ashtanga vinyasa yoga.  This is a great class for all levels.  Knowledge of the standing and some of the seated postures of the Primary series is a requisite.  Please come to any Beginning Ashtanga class or a Mysore class before any Led Ashtanga Foundation class.

Led Primary Series:  Led 3-4.  This is a led Primary Series class.  Experienced Ashtanga vinyasa yoga students only.  This class has been temporarily canceled.  Stay tuned for details of another time slot!

Class Etiquette

Please come to class with an open mind and be prepared to sweat and learn.  Yoga takes discipline, hard work and a little bit of effort, so please be prepared to move your body!  Bring your meditative interest to practice.  Wear shorts, leggings, or tights that you feel comfortable moving in that will allow you to feel free during your yoga practice.  Also take great care not to EAT at least two hours before class and if you are practicing in the morning, do not eat before practice.  Please try to settle all class debts BEFORE the class.  Do not bring water or any liquids into class.

Please arrive five to ten minutes before class so that you have time to settle into the room and prepare yourself mentally for your yogic endeavor.   If you are pregnant, or trying to become pregnant, please tell the teacher when you arrive.  Please tell the teacher about ANY health concerns that you may have and always remember to practice Ahimsa during your yoga practice, the practice of non harming yourself.  Remember yoga is practiced to find union with the divine self, not to harm.  Keep humor and lightness with your yoga practice and remember that all beginnings are difficult and with time, your yoga practice will be nurturing and will blossom into a creative practice that will awaken your true self.

Tim Miller says, "As Pattabhi Jois says, 'Ashtanga Yoga is Patanjali Yoga' - the physical practice is designed to make us receptive to the spiritual experience of realizing our own Divine nature, always a good thing to keep in mind when making asanas of ourselves." From Tim's Yoga Teacher Training Manual.
